My mother is brilliant. In case you don't know her, you should. She's practically one of the best human beings on the planet and even more importantly, she's one of my people. (yes, I picked that phrase up from her/Grey's Anatomy *Meredith needs to get her act together but that's not important right now*). Why do I mention this today, of all days? Well I thought the world should know. You know those days where you look around your apartment and you have the burning desire to clean? And not just tidy up and wipe some stuff down, but really CLEAN. And then you attack the mess with the intensity and power of 1000 animals under the singing hypnosis of Snow White. And then cleaning becomes organizing. Which becomes blogging when you've finished.
So you see, cleaning the kitchen became organizing our large pots and pans cabinet. Which reminded me of my mother because that is always the chore she wanted done when I lived at home. Here I should interject with an honorable mention toward my dad and my older brother, Jordan, for customizing her cabinets for Christmas so they can stay organized. You guys rock!
So at this point I'm thinking about my mom and how much I adore her and my relationship with her. I try to talk to her regularly (I call almost every day?) And more often than not those conversations are in British accents *very loose term considering that her British accent is the same accent she uses for anything..its kind of like the Epcot World Showcase of accents*. Well she's genius. Here's some tidbits of hers that I have discovered are pure wisdom.
-You should make your bed every day- Um...I NEVER thought I would do this/admit that this is a good thing. But let me just tell you young'ns, if you don't make your bed every day. You should. It's so much better to get into a made bed then an unmade one. And you'll feel like you have your life organized even if everything around your bed is a disaster.
-Relationships take work- Yup. Truth. Whether its with your significant other, your best friend, your neighbor, or even a family member. Every relationship takes work.
-Drink Diet Coke- Okay, it's not like she raised me trying to instill a love for Diet Coke. But she does love Diet Coke and she has some every day. I don't drink soda, but I love lemonade. Let's say you ask me if my day is going well: 100% of the days where I have a lemonade the answer is yes. If by chance the answer is 'no' (which isn't terribly often), bring me a lemonade and it will be a good day. :)
Oh yeah. Ode to people! I went and saw the BYU Theatrical Performance of Count of Monte Cristo last night. I really enjoyed it and the performers all had spectacular singing voices. Every day people amaze me with their talents. Just letting everyone know that they are doing great!

Sometimes You Just Have a Good Day
Sometimes we have not so good days: where we step in that puddle on the floor in our socks, we spill our breakfast on our shirt and we have to change before we even step out the door, or even worse, we're walking to school and spill our breakfast-on-the-go on our shirt and we CAN'T change.
BUT, sometimes you just have a good day.
Sometimes you wake up when your FIRST alarm goes off and you feel refreshed and ready for the day without having to hit snooze button the usual 7 times. Sometimes you decide to wear your hair in a french braid even though you hardly ever do and it sort of makes you feel like a 10 year old again. Sometimes you get your eye make-up to match perfectly on the first try. Sometimes a friendly neighbor offers you a ride to campus so you don't have to walk the 15 minutes and you get to know a new person. Sometimes your classes are actually really fun. Sometimes when you go to work all of your coworkers are there and you get to laugh and have fun while you sand cabinets. Sometimes you discover a playlist on Spotify called "Feelin' Good" that is full of finger-snappin oldies. Sometimes you get out of your evening class 10 minutes early...and although that means that you only get out at 8:20pm instead of 8:30pm it still makes you really happy. Sometimes you find out that you have 3 eggs left in your carton instead of 2 and you get to bask in the glory of that extra egg for dinner. And SOMETIMES one of your best friends surprises you with a lemonade from Sodalicious. Okay, sometimes that doesn't happen (it didn't happen today), but at some point maybe it will and when it does it will be a terrifically gracious and kind thing to happen and I will be very thankful.
Sometimes we just have to smile at the day we are having. So focus on the good "sometimes" in your day :)
